Alderson Broaddus University respects the privacy of every visitor to ab.edu and every member of the AB community. We collect only the personal information needed to operate the University and provide the services you request, and we do not sell or rent personal information to third parties. Information you provide through forms on this site (admissions inquiries, application data, newsletter subscriptions, donation transactions) is used for the purpose for which it was collected and is stored in systems with industry-standard security controls.

Non-Discrimination Statement

Alderson Broaddus University does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), sex, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, military or veteran status, pregnancy or pregnancy-related conditions, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law. This policy applies to admissions, financial aid, educational programs, athletic and other school-administered programs, and employment.

FERPA & Student Records

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) affords AB students certain rights with respect to their education records: the right to inspect and review their records, to request amendment of records they believe are inaccurate, to consent to disclosures of personally identifiable information (with limited exceptions), and to file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education concerning alleged failures by AB to comply with FERPA.

AB designates the following as directory information that may be disclosed without prior consent: name, address, telephone number, AB email address, photograph, date and place of birth, major field of study, enrollment status, dates of attendance, degrees received, honors and awards, participation in activities and sports, weight and height of athletic team members, and the most recent previous institution attended. Students may opt out of directory disclosure through the Registrar.

Financial Aid & Net Price

Detailed information on the cost of attendance, types of aid, application procedures, eligibility, terms and conditions, the AB Code of Conduct for student-loan offices, and the federally required Net Price Calculator is available on the Financial Aid page. Highlights:

  • 99% of AB students receive some form of financial aid.
  • 2025–2026 published tuition and fees: $32,640; room and board: $11,240; estimated books and supplies: $1,200.
  • Average institutional grant for full-time first-year students (Fall 2025): $19,400.

Graduation, Retention & Outcomes

The following are the most recently published IPEDS metrics for Alderson Broaddus University, full-time first-time undergraduates:

  • First-to-second-year retention (Fall 2024 cohort): 76%.
  • Six-year graduation rate (entering Fall 2018 cohort): 54%.
  • Eight-year graduation rate (entering Fall 2016 cohort): 58%.
  • Average time-to-degree (bachelor's): 4.2 years.
  • Post-graduation employment or graduate-school placement within one year (Class of 2024): 96%.
  • PA program (MPAS) PANCE first-time pass rate (5-year average): 97%.
  • BSN program NCLEX-RN first-time pass rate (5-year average): 91%.

Clery Act & Campus Safety Report

The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act requires AB to publish an Annual Security and Fire Safety Report by October 1 each year. The report includes campus crime statistics for the prior three calendar years, statements of policy for various law-enforcement and safety procedures, sexual-assault and dating-violence policy and procedures, and fire-safety information for residence halls.

Drug-Free Schools Notice

In compliance with the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act, AB publishes a biennial review of its alcohol and other drug (AOD) policies, prevention efforts, and outcomes. Voter Registration

In compliance with the Higher Education Opportunity Act, AB encourages every U.S. citizen of voting age to register and to vote. West Virginia voter-registration forms are available at the Office of the Registrar, the Student Government Office, and through Vote.gov. Same-day registration is not currently available in West Virginia; the deadline is 21 days before each election.

Textbook Information

In compliance with the Higher Education Opportunity Act, AB makes the ISBN and retail price of required and recommended course materials available at the time of course registration through the AB Online Bookstore and the MyAB Portal Course Catalog. Faculty are encouraged to adopt open educational resources where pedagogically appropriate to reduce textbook costs for students.

AB respects intellectual property rights and prohibits the unauthorized use, copying, or distribution of copyrighted material on AB networks and computing resources. Violators are subject to disciplinary action under the AB Acceptable Use Policy and may face civil and criminal penalties under federal copyright law (17 U.S.C. § 504-505). Refund & Withdrawal Policy

Students who withdraw or are administratively withdrawn from AB are subject to the institutional refund schedule (printed each semester in the Registrar's calendar) and to federal Return of Title IV Funds calculations under 34 CFR 668.22. Withdrawal may also affect satisfactory academic progress, future financial-aid eligibility, and visa status for international students. Students considering withdrawal should meet with their academic advisor, the Office of Financial Aid, and (if applicable) the Office of International Student Services before initiating a withdrawal request.
