Alderson Broaddus University student publishes article in upscale magazine

Jeremy Linaburg, a senior business administration and marketing major, spent his last summer as an Alderson Broaddus University undergraduate promoting tourism for his hometown of Winchester, Virginia. While at Full Circle Marketing, a Virginia based business solutions firm, Linaburg helped publish an article in the June-July edition of Valley, an upscale lifestyle publication. The magazine covers articles on art, decorating, dining, and travel.

Linaburg’s article focused on the activities that took place in downtown Winchester and served as a pre-promotion for upcoming events, including the popular Shenandoah Valley Apple Blossom Festival. During his internship, Linaburg was responsible for promoting the events featured in the article through social media and flyers. In addition, he was tasked with writing a grant for the Virginia Tourism Corporation requesting money for the Apple Blossom Festival.

“The skills that are taught in our classes at AB are definitely put to the test during an internship like this,” said Linaburg.

As the AB University Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) chapter president and West Virginia PBL state vice president, Linaburg led the University’s PBL chapter to six top 10 wins at the PBL National Leadership Conference in 2018. Nine students at AB placed in the top 10 of the nation at the PBL Awards of Excellence Program, including first place and second place national spots.

“I am beyond proud of our represented accomplishments at this conference,” said Linaburg. “AB students demonstrated applied knowledge, techniques, and strategies learned in the classroom to finish in the top 10 in the nation! This speaks highly of our institution and the quality of our students.”

This year, PBL competed at the State Leadership Conference in Fairmont and won top honors in their division, qualifying 19 members who will move on to compete at the National Leadership Conference held in San Antonio, Texas June 24-27.

Linaburg looks forward to attending graduate school in Virginia after graduating from Alderson Broaddus University in May 2019. While at AB, he served as president of the Student Government Association, president of Phi Beta Lambda, FriendlyU ambassador, and member of the Fashion, Design & Expression club, Digital Edge, and the acapella group, The West Virginians.
