AB to receive omnibus funding from Congress

Every year, thousands of projects are considered as part of the annual Congressional omnibus appropriations package. Alderson Broaddus University has received notification from Senator Joe Manchin III’s office that $500,000 has been earmarked for AB to replace clinical simulator laboratory equipment.

Utilized by nursing and physician assistant students, the new equipment will allow these programs to remain in step with clinical technology, competitive with other programs, and relevant in their ability to train the next generation of healthcare professionals.

“The funding from this grant will be used to update the Alderson Broaddus high-fidelity clinical simulation laboratory, explains AB’s Interim Chair, School of Nursing and Assistant Professor of Nursing Susan A. Simmons. “The Alderson Broaddus School of Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies has a long-standing history of excellence within the community of West Virginia. The updated Simulation lab will add actual application of patient care procedures with faculty guidance to fully prepare nursing and physician assistant students in real-time care.  In addition, an updated Simulation Lab will allow further educational opportunities to train our community working nurses and healthcare professionals at Broaddus Hospital.
