Beginning immediately and continuing through at least September 10, 2021, all members of the campus community (vaccinated and non-vaccinated) are required to wear masks or face coverings while indoors. Masks are not required outdoors, when alone in offices, or when in one’s own residence room or suite. Social distancing while unmasked outdoors is encouraged.
This temporary change to our campus safety protocols is in response to the guidance given by the Barbour County Health Department. Their decision is based on the following:
- Evidence of higher-than-expected transmissibility rates of the COVID-19 among vaccinated persons,
- The need to stem the tide of increasing COVID-19 infections in the area, and mitigate COVID-19’s impact on our campus community.
The University will communicate with faculty, staff, and students prior to September 10 should condition warrant any change or extension to this requirement.
