Dr. Chen Appointed as Editor-in Chief for scientific journal

PHILIPPI, W.Va. – Alderson Broaddus University Professor of Biology Dr. Yi (Charlie) Chen was recently invited to serve as Editor-In-Chief for the peer-reviewed scientific journal, Journal of Nutritional Medicine and Diet Care (JNMDC).

Editorial boards for journals usually include experts in the subject area that the journal focuses on, and the Editor-in-Chief oversees it. An editorial board is consisted of selected, unpaid experts in the academic field.

“This is regarded as an honorary position,” said Dr. Chen. “As an INBRE supported faculty member, I hope faculty and students from all over the world, especially those from small schools in the WV-INBRE network such as Alderson Broaddus University will submit their original research, reviews, case reports, commentaries, or short communications to JNMDC. I also hope that this journal will help to increase overall publications in the WV-INBRE network in the future.”

WV-INBRE stands for the West Virginia IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence. INBRE is a competitive federal research program established by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in 2014. As part of the NIH Institutional Development Award (IDeA) Program, its mission is to establish a consortium among selected institutions of higher education in the State of West Virginia to enhance their capacity for educating and training their faculty and students in biomedical research.

JNMDC presents information on human and animal nutrition, dietetic practice and public health nutrition. It publishes articles related to WV-INBRE’s mission and focus on cell and molecular biology, cancer, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases, and natural product research. Original research, reviews, case reports, commentaries, short communications etc., are welcome for possible publication.

The Journal of Nutritional Medicine and Diet Care is a peer-reviewed, open access journal that ensures fast publication of high quality articles. Two independent reviewers’ comments, followed by the editor’s decision, will be considered to publish the article. JNMDC is a permanent archive of nutritional information which under the open access category provides its global readers with free access to its content, thus serving the scientific community.

Dr. Joan Propst, provost/executive vice-president for academic affairs at AB states it is a pleasure to count Dr. Chen as a valued colleague and among the exceptional faculty at Alderson Broaddus.

“Charlie’s notoriety in his field, his research and his work in the classroom is well known and of exceptional quality,” said Propst. “His selection as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Nutritional Medicine and Diet Care is an honor he has certainly earned and is well deserved. What a privilege it is for me personally and for AB to have Charlie as a colleague and a friend.”

Dr. Chen currently serves on the Editorial Board for several peer-reviewed scientific journals including: Journal of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Research, Journal of Nutritional Medicine and Diet Care, SM Journal of Environmental Toxicology, and International Archives of Clinical Pharmacology.
