AB TO HOST SIT VOLLEYBALL ON NATIONAL RECREATION DAY

PHILIPPI, W.Va. – Alderson Broaddus University will celebrate “National Recreation Day in America” by hosting a sit volleyball tournament on Sunday, Feb. 22 at 7 PM in the Rex Pyles Arena.

Teams of six to eight students will be competing in a fun and inclusive event to help support the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA) as well as include all different types of athletes to join the fun of volleyball.

“Sit volleyball is an inclusive form of volleyball that allows disabled athletes to still have fun playing a sport they love,” said student Matt Zerishnek who is the event’s liaison. “This type of event is crucial to showcase how all athletes can perform, have fun playing a sport, and being active.”

The community can follow along with National Recreation Day on social media by using the hash tag #RecDay on Twitter.

Many students on campus are anticipated to come out and participate, and the AB men’s and women’s volleyball teams will also be at the event, showing their support.

Students, faculty, staff, and the entire community are invited to join Alderson Broaddus University in celebrating a great day and a great cause of supporting inclusive recreation.

Registration runs from February 9th through February 19th. For more information, please contact Matt Zerishnek at zerishnekma@battlers.ab.edu.
