AB Celebrates 76th Nursing Convocation

Alderson Broaddus University celebrated the School of Nursing Class of 2022 with the 76th Nursing Convocation on Friday, May 6, 2022, at Wilcox Chapel.

A total of fourteen nursing students were honored during the official pinning and candle ceremony and enjoyed words of inspiration from guest speaker Joyce Wilson titled “The AB Nurse.”

Dr. Kim White, Chair, School of Nursing, stated, “It was an honor to welcome Joyce Wilson, an alumna of AB class of 2007, back home to celebrate the hard work, dedication, and passion for nursing our 2022 graduates have shown through the pandemic.”

Traditional nursing graduates included Ashley Ford, Nabrea Hunter, Maura Mallon, Allison Moon, Chloe Phillips, Danielle Sevilla, and Caden Wetzel. LPN to BSN graduates included: Tiffany Augil, Jacqueline Johnson, Chrissyl McClain, Gladys Browne-Mensah, Shannon Stevens, and Julene Williams. In addition, Mary Lyons graduated RN to BSN.

Symbolizing professionalism and commitment to patient care, the pinning and candle ceremony welcomes graduating students into the nursing profession. Dating back to the 12th century Crusades when Queen Victoria awarded Florence Nightingale the Royal Red Cross for her service during the Crimean War as a military nurse, this special event emphasizes nurses’ compassionate, collaborative, and scientifically excellent care.
