Program holds local events
PHILIPPI, W.Va. – The Sport Management program at Alderson Broaddus University hosted their 2nd annual sit-volleyball event, on Sunday March 20, 2016. Sit-Volleyball is a Paralympic sport for disabled athletes also known as, Paralympic volleyball. The event was held in Rex Pyles Arena.
The Sport Management program would like to thank all of those who participated in this experience for their support of both the University and the Paralympic sport. Special thanks to Autumn Brown (2017) and Bobby Williams (2018) Physical Education students who helped educate participants on the rules and techniques of playing sit-volleyball. We would also like to congratulate team Two Ton Honeybuns consisting of members Shaun Greer, Logan Bauder, Hayden Crockett, Cory Beasy, and Jordan Butler on winning the 2nd Annual Sit Volleyball Tournament.
The Sport Management program is partnering with New Vision Renewable Energy (http://www.nvre.org/index.html) and the Mentoring Youth in Leadership initiative to host a series of fun recreational activities during the spring months. The next event is a Street Hockey and Gaga event taking place during AB’s “Do Good Weekend” on Friday April 8. Registration begins at 7 P.M. and events start at 7:30 P.M. Local youth and community members are invited to participate but youth must have a parent present for the entire event, which will take place near the Erickson Alumni Center.
