Will I be required to travel to AB?
All Teacher Leader courses are online. We’ve designed our program this way to meet the time and distance constraints of teachers from our local community and from around the world.
How is a Master of Education different from a Principal?
A Teacher Leader is first, and foremost a teacher–a highly qualified teacher with leadership and research skills. Whereas a principal holds the responsibilities of administration, a teacher leader possesses the skills to be a mentor teacher, lead teacher, department chair, curriculum design specialist, academic coach, technology integration specialist, professional development specialist, or school improvement specialist.
How does the part-time schedule differ from the full-time schedule?
The part-time sequence is designed for the teacher who is currently working in his/her school. Because we know that teachers have very little extra time, we stretched out the sequence to 2 years, with one course every eight weeks. The full-time sequence is for the teacher who has extra time; this sequence is two courses every eight weeks with completion in 1 year.
Can this degree lead to a doctoral degree?
The program leads to a Master’s of Education degree. However, we understand that some students may wish to pursue a doctorate later. For this reason, we have designed courses and key assessment options that one may use as components of their doctoral studies.
