The Official Athletic Logo
Primary Logo: The AB with crossed swords is the primary logo of the Alderson Broaddus Athletic Department. The athletic logo must be used in conjunction with the Alderson Broaddus University wordmark.
The swords are never to be separated from the AB and used as a standalone image. The swords are never to be replaced with any other object.

Approved Variation: The AB with the crossed swords can be used with the block “BATTLERS” wordmark in the official AB blue and outlined in AB gold. The word “BATTLERS” is set in the Livingston type and formatted in all caps.
All guidelines must be adhered to as stated with the primary athletic logo.

Skirmish the “Battler” is the mascot of Alderson Broaddus University. The Skirmish image is a secondary logo for AB Athletics, always to be used with the primary logo and measurably smaller in size than the primary logo.
(Skirmish is an accent, not the main focal point of a design or layout.)
Examples of appropriate use: back center of a hat/helmet or uniform shorts.
Logo use is at the discretion of the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Communications, and the Athletic Director.

Misuse of the Athletic Logos
To have a strong, unified brand identity, it is essential to avoid improper uses of the logo. The elements of the logo, the AB blue and gold, and the typography, are all integral elements of the overall logo design.
Modifications of these elements are prohibited. Adhering to these simple rules will continue to ensure our logo is recognizable to all audiences.
Do not alter the logo in any form including:
Do not alter the color scheme of the logo.
Do not change the scale of the elements of the logo.
Do not use a substitute typeface for Alderson Broaddus University or Battlers.
Do not add drop shadows, strokes, or other visual effects to the logo.
Do not isolate the logo in a frame or incorporate into another graphic.
Do not use the wordmark without the logo. Do not use the “AB” without the shadow.
Do not stretch, condense, or skew the logo.
Do not display the logo at an angle.
Do not add type or graphic elements to the logo.
Do not place the logo onto backgrounds that render it illegible or hard to recognize.
Misuse of the Skirmish Logo
The Skirmish mascot cannot be redrawn or altered in any way. The Skirmish mascot cannot be combined with other approved logos or other elements of logos; it is never a replacement for the main “AB” logo. Follow the same rules as set forth by the athletic logos, and see below for the most common misuses of the Skirmish mascot.
Do not alter the logo in any form including:
Do not combine with swords.
Do not add type or graphic elements to the logo.
Do not isolate the logo in a frame or incorporate into another graphic.
Do not add drop shadows or other visual effects to the logo.
Do not display the logo at an angle.
Do not stretch, condense, or skew the logo.
Color Variation Usage
The athletic logo(s) may appear in three colors only: AB blue, AB gold, and white. All athletic uniforms, warm-up gear, and apparel must be ordered in the AB blue, AB gold, or white only.
This ensures that our logo remains consistent and easily recognized as the Alderson Broaddus University Athletic logo. These two variations are the first priority color combinations and should be used at all times unless budgets necessitate using an alternate variation below.
Acceptable Alternate Color Variations
