ADDITIONAL HOURS: Students must be cognizant that 150 hours of coursework is required to sit for the CPA Examination. This may include taking a variety of additional courses to be selected as the student desires. Accounting advisors will ensure students are aware of this 150-hour requirement and assist them in planning accordingly.

Preparing for a Career in Business

Graduates with a degree in Accounting from Alderson Broaddus University find themselves well prepared for a variety of entry-level accounting positions or graduate study. From lively classroom discussions to working with state-of-the-art computer equipment and software, our academic program emphasizes quality instruction and learning. A campus-wide computer network provides one station for every seven students, allowing for communication access across campus or the globe via e-mail and the internet. Accounting students will use accounting software and spreadsheets in a variety of courses and applications. Students will also gain practical experience using business application software and multimedia presentation technology used by businesses today.

The accounting major includes several courses with international content. These courses, combined with a liberal arts curriculum, provide an excellent foundation for a finance career in a global environment. Students have the opportunity to further their knowledge of other cultures through the international studies program at AB, which offers a full semester of study and travel in Europe.
