The Office of Residence Life is proud to offer RoomSync as our preferred roommate matching software to help new students find roommates.
Students are not required to use RoomSync, but many find it a helpful tool.
By using a passcode-protected Facebook app, the Office of Residence Life works closely with RoomSync to provide our residents with the unique opportunity to interact with other students while safely finding future roommates. Students can only use the RoomSync app after obtaining a special passcode from the Office of Residence Life. This passcode will be sent to students after they pay their Enrollment Deposit to the University.
Students can also integrate their Twitter and Instagram profiles, allowing RoomSync to capture a broader representation of their tastes, preferences, and lifestyle. This integration also furthers a very unique component of self-selection: Personality. It is impossible to decipher a person’s personality from a vague paper questionnaire. RoomSync already overcomes this challenge by using Facebook to capture a person’s true identity. But, with the use of a running stream of thoughts from Twitter and a visual porthole into activities and interests from Instagram, RoomSync is now able to offer an even deeper picture of who the student is and allow better roommate matching.
By giving students the ability to select their roommates, we strive to provide a happier and more gratifying campus living experience.
NOTE: Students are NOT required to use RoomSync. It is an optional service to aid in finding a roommate. Students who have already found a roommate, prefer a random roommate, or have other preferences (for example, wanting to live with a teammate) can indicate their preferences when submitting their Housing Request.
