Students in Nursing, Radiography, and Physician Assistant students on rotations are eligible to apply if they are enrolled full-time and their family income is less than 200% of the poverty rate based upon the number of exemptions on their federal tax return. Students must complete verification and submit documentation of family income.
Promise Scholarship for Summer
Program guidelines provide an opportunity for limited summer assistance for PROMISE scholars. Eligibility requirements for this program include:
1. Students must be academically eligible for scholarship continuation at the end of the spring semester preceding the summer that assistance is requested. Click here for a complete list of PROMISE Scholarship Renewal Requirements.
2. Students must be enrolled for at least 12 credit hours unless graduating at the end of the 2011 summer term. Students graduating at the end of the summer term of enrollment are only required to enroll for a minimum of 6 credit hours.
Any summer award under this provision is dependent upon the availability of funds. Priority for summer awards will be based on class rank with the highest priority given to students closest to graduation. A summer award counts as a semester of utilization toward the maximum number of available semesters. Summer assistance is limited and completing an application does not ensure you will receive assistance, even if you meet all the eligibility requirements.
If you are interested in the summer program, please complete and return the application to the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission by April 29, 2011. The application is available in PDF format at CFWV.com - West Virginia PROMISE under the Summer Awards section at the bottom of the PROMISE Scholarship page. Applications received after the April 29 deadline will not be considered. Since academic eligibility for summer scholarship assistance cannot be determined until we obtain current semester final grade results, summer scholarship awards will not be made until early June.
