Paths To Professional Schools

Pre-professional students at Alderson Broaddus usually major in biology or chemistry. Pre-Med students typically earn a four year degree before applying to medical school. Pre-Dentistry and Pre-Veterinary students earn three years at AB before going on to professional schools, though they frequently elect to complete a degree program at Alderson Broaddus before continuing advanced study.

The Pre-Pharmacy and Pre-Physical Therapy students complete two years or 60 semester hours at AB, finishing with three years in the appropriate professional schools. Alderson Broaddus can also accommodate preparations for schools of optometry, podiatry, mortuary science, respiratory therapy, cytology and occupational therapy.

All students majoring in chemistry, mathematics, and biology in the last few years who have desired entrance into graduate school have been admitted to one or more programs. All pre-dental and pre-pharmacy students have been admitted to their schools. One hundred percent of the pre-med students have been accepted into medical school in the last eighteen years, and ninety-nine percent of medical technology juniors have been admitted to at least one of the four clinical year sites with which the college is affiliated.
