Hunger prevents kids from reaching their full potential. It’s an epidemic that’s threatenimg America’s future.

1 out of 5 children in the United States struggles with hunger, totaling 16 million per year

That child who doesn’t have enough to eat isn’t going to do as well in
school, is likely to get sick more often, and is less likely to graduate
from high school and go on to college, which will have a negative
impact on his or her economic future.

If this happens, this same child is much less likely to be able to earn enough to feed his or her family in the future.

As a community service learning course, the Social Psychology class
requests your help to make a difference in a child’s life. We are
collecting canned foods and other non-perishable food items between
October 22nd and October 26th.  Each day we will be updating the amount
collected toward our target goal of 1000 items in one week to benefit
Heart and Hand of Philippi.

Collection boxes will be available in Withers-Brandon, Heiner, Kemper-Redd, the Library, and the Post Office.
