PHILIPPI – Lesa Jordan is no stranger to Manila, Philippines. She’s traveled there several times as a faculty member of the Nursing Department at Alderson-Broaddus College. This time, however, she’ll be leading the group as A-B College’s new Director of the International Nursing Partnership with Arellano University in Manila.
“This will be my fourth trip to the Philippines since we started this venture,” explained Jordan. I’ll be traveling with Dr. Propst (Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs/Provost) to help implement curriculum changes to the partnership program at Arellano.” The INP between A-B College and Arellano University was initiated in 2005.
Jordan is an Assistant Professor in the Nursing Department and her primary responsibilities include teaching Maternal-Child Nursing. She also teaches Research in Nursing and Leadership and Management. She has been with the Nursing Department at A-B College since 2003; first as a part-time faculty and in 2005, she began teaching full time. She is also involved in the traditional BSN and the LPN-BSN tracks at Alderson-Broaddus College.
Jordan earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing in 1988 at Alderson-Broaddus College. She continued her education at the Frontier School of Family Nursing and Midwifery in Hyden, KY for her Certified Nurse Midwifery Certificate. In 2001, she received her Master’s Degree in Nursing from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.
Ms. Jordan maintains her expertise working part-time as a staff nurse at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston, WV. She is an advisor to the student nursing organization, Alpha Beta Nu. She is also a member of the National Student Nurse’s Association (NSNA) and the National League for Nursing (NLN). As an active member of her community, Ms. Jordan serves as the Director of the Highland District Cub Scout Day Camp. She also serves as the treasurer for Hands and Hearts for Christ, a medical/surgical mission team to Belize, Central America. She has two children. Her daughter is a senior in high school and her son is a student at Alderson-Broaddus College double majoring in History/Political Science. They enjoy camping, hiking and traveling.
