Alderson-Broaddus College inducted three alumni and one former coach into its Battler Hall of Fame during induction ceremonies held on Saturday, April 9 as a part of the College’s annual Spring Weekend festivities. Those inducted with the twenty-first class into the Battler Hall of Fame included: David Barksdale of Beckley, WV, Terry Johnson ’75 of Corning, New York, David Lamport ’97 of Fredericktown, OH, and Susan Ross ’90 of Warrensburg, MO.
Coach Dave Barksdale coached the Battler Basketball Team from 1976 through 1983. Since then he has coached Woodrow Wilson High School Boys Basketball Team to five state titles. He is currently an assistant coach at Mountain State University, which recently played for the NAIA National Championship.
Terry Johnson is a native of Westfield, Pennsylvania. He was an All-Conference catcher for the Battler Baseball Team and served his team as captain all four years. While at A-B College, he also was a member of the Bowling Team which won the WVIAC Championship.
David Lamport is a native of Portsmouth, England. While at A-B College, he was a midfielder for the Battler Soccer Team. He was named to the WVIAC All-Conference Team, was named Player of the Week, and received the WVIAC Senior Scholar Athlete Award.
Susan Ross is a native of Bridgeport, WV and was a WVIAC All-Conference and All-Tournament guard for the Lady Battler Basketball Team. In 2007, she was named one of the Top 25 All-Time Harrison County Girls Basketball Players.
