Brewer Earns WVIAC Women’s Cross Country Freshman of the Year

GREENSBURG, Pa. -- Alderson Broaddus freshman Jenny Brewer was selected as the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Cross Country Freshman of the Year.

“This is a major accomplishment for Jenny and I couldn’t think of anyone else that deserves it more,” said Head Coach Jesse Weiner. “She was the most dedicated freshman today and it showed!”

The St. Mary’s, W.Va., native earned First Team All-Conference honors and finished ninth in the WVIAC Championship. Brewer was selected as the Female Runner of the Week earlier this year and had a pair of first place finishes this season.

“I was stunned and honored to receive Freshman of the Year,” said Brewer. “I was also really proud of how our team performed today at conference.”

The Battler women’s team placed fifth in the conference meet. Teammate and fellow freshman Aly Carpenter also received postseason accolades and was selected Second Team All-Conference.
