WOMENS LACROSSE COACH HIRED AT ALDERSON- BROADDUS COLLEGE
Emilia Ward to recruit first class
PHILIPPI, WV - Alderson-Broaddus is excited to announce the hiring of Emilia Ward as the new women’s lacrosse head coach.
Ward was hired in June as Winthrop University's assistant women's lacrosse coach after spending three years in the same position at Adrian College in Michigan under the direction of former head coach John Sung, who was selected in May to serve as the first head women's lacrosse coach at Winthrop.
Ward is excited that the opportunity to serve as an inaugural head coach presented itself with Alderson-Broaddus.
Ward earned a bachelor’s degree in communications with a focus on broadcast and corporate concentrations from Manhattan College. While there, she excelled on the lacrosse field; starting all 14 games her senior season.
During the 2010-2011 season, Ward helped coach the Adrian College Bulldogs to a 16-5 overall record; 6-0 in the conference. She also served as recruiting coordinator, bringing in nearly 30 students during a three year period. She coached two first team all-region players as well as six first team all-conference players. In addition, six of her athletes were named to the MWLC All Academic Team.
Women’s lacrosse is one of the many new sports Alderson-Broaddus has added as a part of the new admissions yield plan that leverages enrollment through athletics and extracurricular activities.
Women’s lacrosse will debut during 2012-2013 school year.
