Alderson-Broaddus College Appoints New Athletic Director
A-B College officials announce the appointment of Dennis Creehan as the incoming athletic director at Alderson-Broaddus College. Currently head football coach at West Virginia Wesleyan College, Coach Creehan has served in the past as an assistant athletic director, and brings extensive experience as a successful coach at four different colleges and universities, as well as 19 successful seasons in the professional and Division 1A levels, including Rutgers University, the University of California, and the University of Pittsburgh. Creehan also contributed to very successful seasons in the Canadian Football League, where he participated in the Grey Cup Championship game, and coached three division champions and eight playoff teams.
Vice President for Enrollment Management Tanya Shelton notes, “Coach Creehan brings a unique knowledge of enrollment growth as it relates to athletics, and we are very pleased to be able to tap into his expertise with his appointment to this role at A-B College. With our anticipated expansion of athletics and academics under the leadership of our new president, this is a key administrative role that will be important to our future success.”
In addition to professional, college and high school coaching, Creehan has served as an associate tenured professor of health and physical education at Edinboro University, at San Francisco State University, and at the University of South Dakota. His athletic achievements include his induction in to the Edinboro University Hall of Fame in 2001, as well as the Bethel Park High School Hall of Fame in 2000. He has been named Coach of the Year on five different occasions.
Creehan has published an extensive number of coaching videos, as well as books. He has also published articles in American Football Quarterly, Scholastic Coach Magazine, and American Football Monthly.
Creehan’s educational background includes a bachelor of science in education (mathematics) from Edinboro University, a master of science in guidance and counseling from Duquesne University, and a master of education in physical education and recreation from the University of Pittsburgh. Coach Creehan is married to Linda, and they have two children, Kevin and Casey.
