AB TO HOLD 15TH ANNUAL ‘BRASS IN THE GRASS’ CONCERT, APRIL 28
PHILIPPI, W.Va. - The Alderson Broaddus Brass Choir will hold its fifteenth annual "Brass in the Grass" outdoor concert on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at 3 p.m. under a performance shelter in the center of the AB campus.
Admission is free. The public is invited to attend and asked to bring a blanket or folding chair for lawn seating. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be held in Wilcox Chapel.
The 92-member performing ensemble will be comprised of the 2012-13 Brass Choir, ensemble alumni and other former members of the group, faculty, high school student guests, community members, and several professional brass performers and teachers from West Virginia and neighboring states. Selections will include brass ensemble standards as well as folk tunes, jazz tunes, and marches—in both small and large ensembles, satisfying every musical taste. Featured soloist for this special 15th year will be euphonium soloist Neal Corwell, a member of The United States Army Band, “Pershing’s Own,” from Washington, D.C.
The AB Brass Choir, under the direction of Dr. Timothy DeWitt, professor of music, is just one of many excellent instrumental and vocal ensembles of the Alderson Broaddus Department of Music.
