A-B Brass Choir to Hold 14th Annual ‘Brass in the Grass’ Concert
Event to take place April 29 at 3p.m.
PHILIPPI, W.Va. - The Alderson-Broaddus College Brass Choir will hold its fourteenth annual "Brass in the Grass" (BITG) outdoor concert on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. under a performance shelter in the center of the A-B campus, near Burbick Hall and the Campus Center.
The public is invited to attend and asked to bring a blanket or folding chair for lawn seating. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be held in Wilcox Chapel. Admission is free.
The 88-member performing ensemble will be comprised of the 2011-12 Brass Choir, ensemble alumni and other former members of the group, high school student guests, community members, and several professional brass performers from West Virginia and neighboring states. Selections will include brass ensemble standards as well as folk tunes, jazz tunes, and marches—in both small and large ensembles, satisfying every musical taste.
The A-B Brass Choir, under the direction of Dr. Timothy DeWitt, professor of music, is just one of many excellent instrumental and vocal ensembles of A-B's Department of Music. One of the College’s popular vocal ensembles, The West Virginians, under the direction of Mrs. Lauren Lindsey, will also be featured at this year’s BITG concert.
