The Music Department takes pride in its long-standing reputation of excellence and its commitment to high-quality instruction. Experienced and highly-trained faculty care about your individual success as a qualified professional musician; they care equally about your growth as a person in an educational environment where you are mentored and encouraged to mature in your understanding of yourself and the world.
Music core classes will ground you in all of the facets of understanding music. Piano and voice classes will hone necessary skills. Course sequences in music theory, musicianship, music history, conducting... these are just a sampling of the variety of core classes all music majors take. One of your needs as a musician is to find a college where you will have an exceptional private teacher. Alderson-Broaddus is that college. Our professors are not only outstanding performers, they are insightful pedagogues as well, and can guide you to reach your own potential as an undergraduate musical artist. On a regular basis our music majors win major competitions and go on to the most prestigious graduate schools.
